The Burlingame Historical Society is a non-profit organization founded on December 3, 1975. Operated by volunteers, the Burlingame Historical Society is open 10 hours per week, and is also available by appointment. Membership is open to all individuals and associations who have an interest in the history of the area regardless of their city of residence.
The Society holds monthly board meetings (open to all members) for the purpose of conducting the business necessary for the preservation of local history and to encourage the sharing and donation of historical items to a central archives for safekeeping and supervised use by students of history.
In addition to board meetings, general meetings are held quarterly to which the public is invited for programs which may include guest speakers, exhibits of photographs and printed materials, films and slide projections and discussions of subjects of historical interest.
THE RECORD is the Society's quarterly newsletter serving as a communication link among the members. THE RECORD includes activities reported by the memberships, advance notice of meetings and events, reviews of past meetings and also includes bits of history as well as present day happenings.
The Burlingame Historical Society collects memorabilia, such as photographs of early and present day Burlingame. Contributions to the Society are deductible as charitable contributions on the donor's Federal and State income tax returns. The Society is officially recognized as a tax-exempt organization. The archivist will provide a receipt for gifts upon request.
